MOD Boscombe Down in located in Wiltshire and has an operational airfield with air traffic control, emergency services, and a meteorological office.

The site has two runways, including the longest military runway in the UK. Its air ground-based facilities include an environmental test facility, hypobaric chamber, radio frequency environment generator, night vision test facility and avionic rigs. It is also home to the Empire Test Pilot School.
